Marvel Universe Series V base set

This is the Marvel Universe Series V base set. These cards feature new designs including ties to certain comic storylines such as "Maximum Carnage" and "The Fall of the Hammer", a golden foil stamp, and a complete redesign of the power ratings system.

Marvel Universe Series V holograms

Below are some of the Marvel Universe Series V hologram set. The set consists of four cards, but a true collector doesn't stop there. There are color variants of each of the cards that can be found. The main color variants are green, yellow, orange, red, blue, and violet. Green is widely accepted to be the most common and violet to be the rarest. Each card usually holds a unique color scheme, so collecting a full set would take quite a bit of time and money. The cards below are my collection so far.

Marvel Universe Series V Power Blast sets

Below are the Marvel Universe Series V Power Blast sets for this series. The American versions feature three different colored backgrounds while the Mexico/Puerto Rican versions have a prism background.

Rainbow Power Blast set
These were placed inside regular "hobby" box packs which had 9 cards within it.

Silver Power Blast set
These were placed inside "jumbo" box packs which had 12 cards within it.

Gold Power Blast set
These were placed inside packs that were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and had 11 cards within it.

1995 Puerto Rican version of the Power Blast cards
These cards were part of the Puerto Rican set of 1995 Marvel Pepsi cards and are reprints of the Marvel Universe Series V Power Blast set with obvious changes.

1994 Mexican version of the Power Blast cards
These cards were part of the Mexican set of 1994 Marvel Pepsi cards and are reprints of the Marvel Universe Series V Power Blast set with obvious changes.

Left: 1995 Puerto Rican version    Right: 1994 Mexican version
The easiest way to tell these cards apart is by the Pepsi logo in the bottom-left hand corner. These cards also have different copyright years as seen in the text at the bottom between the Pepsi and Marvel logos. There is one other set which has a yellowish Pepsi logo.

Marvel Universe Series V Suspended Animation sets

Below are the Marvel Universe Series V Suspended Animation sets. These sets are printed on acetate and feature some of the most popular characters of the Marvel Universe.

Marvel Universe Series V jumbo suspended animation set

This is the jumbo Suspended Animation set for the Marvel Universe Series V card set. These were "case-toppers" in the sense that if you ordered a case, which is usually 12 boxes, they would place one of these cards on the top of the boxes in the case as a bonus. Each card measures 6.5" x 10".

Marvel Universe Series V uncut promos

These are the uncut promos for the Marvel Universe Series V card set.

This promo was bound inside an issue of Pro Action magazine. The area where it was stapled is still visible.

This promo was given to dealer to create interest in the card set.

This promo was bound inside an issue of Spider-Man magazine. If you look between the cards you can see where the staples held it in place.

This promo was also bound inside an issue of Spider-Man magazine. If you look between the cards you can see where the staples held it in place.

Marvel Universe Series IV packs

Below are the four variations of the trading card packs for the Marvel Universe Series IV card series. Each pack contains 10 cards.

Marvel Universe Series IV base set

This is the Marvel Universe Series IV base set. It's my personal favorite of all of the base sets in the Marvel Universe series due to the fact that all of the cards form a larger image when placed together. A very fun set to flip through and read about your favorite comic book characters.

Marvel Universe Series IV red foil set

This is the red foil chase set from the Marvel Universe Series IV card set. It's a beautiful looking set that tops off a wonderful card series.

Marvel Universe Series IV 3-D hologram

Below are three (green, yellow, and violet) 3-D hologram chase cards for the Marvel Universe Series IV card set. They're great looking cards (my scan doesn't do them justice) that actually have a 3-D look. According to the stats on this card, it was only in about 1 out of every 180 packs. It also comes in different color variations, such as light blue, orange, and red.

Marvel Universe Series IV Silver Sable promo

This is a Marvel Universe Series IV Silver Sable promo card. It has no number and the front of the card is identical to the regular base card. However, the back contains text promoting the card series.

Marvel Universe Series IV Deathlok promo

This is a Marvel Universe Series IV Deathlok promo card #0. It was included with an issue of Comic Buyer's Price Guide. The front is similar to the regular card but the back is filled with text promoting the card series. The "CBPG" logo can be seen in the top-left hand corner on the back.

Marvel Universe Series IV red foil promo

Below are two Marvel Universe Series IV red foil promo cards. Another of my favorite cards in my collection. These were sent to retailers to increase interest in the upcoming card series. The front of the card is identical to the regular chase foil cards of this set. However, the back is blank except for a sticker that reads "production sample marvel IV foil card". It's speculated that all nine foil cards had samples. I've personally seen all of them on eBay/Worthpoint except for the Punisher 2099 version.

Marvel Universe Series IV 3-card uncut promo sheet

This is probably my favorite item in my collection to date. It's a Marvel Universe Series IV uncut 3-card red foil promo panel. These were released at the Sixth Annual Capital City Sales Conference in Milwaukee,WI in May of 1993. Only 1200 were ever made, which means that there are only 400 of each different panel.

Marvel Universe Series III packs

Below are the four variations of the trading card packs for the Marvel Universe Series III set. Each pack contains twelve cards.

Marvel Universe Series III base set

This is the Marvel Universe Series III base set. It includes some wonderful art as well as entertaining facts on the card backs. You can find scans of every card on Marvel's website under "Make mine Marvel".

Marvel Universe Series III hologram set

This is the hologram set for the Marvel Universe Series III card set. Numbered H-1 through H-5, these holograms were different from previous years due to the new solid color scheme.

Marvel Universe Series III oversize checklist

Below is an oversize checklist for the Marvel Universe Series III card set. It could only be obtained through a mail-in offer and also included a four-card promo sheet numbered to 30,000.

Marvel Universe Series III prototype cards

The cards below are promo/prototype samples of the Marvel Universe Series III card set. These cards were given to retailers as samples in three card sealed packs to increase interest in the card set. The most noticeable difference to the regular cards is the word "Prototype" stamped across the back.

Marvel Universe Series III triple offer card

This is the Marvel Universe Series III triple offer card. It was an order form card randomly inserted into packs.

Marvel Universe Series III Advance Comics promo hologram

This is the Marvel Universe Series III Advance Comics hologram promo. It was bundled along with the bagged magazine and is identical to the H-4 hologram of this series. However, on the back of the card there is text promoting the upcoming card series. I have also found an error card which is basically the same other than the card back is upside down.

Standard Advance Comics Venom Hologram promo

Marvel Universe Series III unauthorized stickers

This is a sticker printed on Kodak paper that I came across that looked familiar. After getting the sticker home I proceeded to compare it to every Rogue card I had. After comparing it to the series III card, I'm convinced that the sticker is a reprint of the card. From the matching blue border, clouds, pose, and even her headband blowing in the wind, I'd say we have a match.

Marvel Universe Series III white border checklist

This is the Marvel Universe Series III white border checklist. As you can see, the front of the cards are identical. However, on the opposite side, there is a white border running alongside the purple border.

Marvel Universe Series III power ratings card

This is the Marvel Universe Series III power ratings card. It is only available inside the collectors tin of this series, so they're quite the rare find. I pulled this one from a tin earlier this year, so this is a good example of how 20 years bundled in cellophane with other cards can affect the condition.
